Lord, help us confess you in all that we do.

THE GOSPEL
Luke 9:18-24
But who do you say that I am?
You ask,
“Who do you say I am?”
You are not asking who the laws of the Church say you are,
or what the catechism states, or what we opine,
but along with all of these,
who do each of us
say you are.
Help us say it,
with mouths speaking justice for the poor,
with feet running to those in need,
shoulders bearing the cross,
trusting, shattering fear.
O Lord, with hearts
loving you and
all others
within
you,
help us to say it
and to do it.
Father,
show him to our hearts.
Show us him whom they have pierced.
Let us mourn for him as if
mourning for an
only son.
Lead us to the fountain
and give us to
drink,
to drink
of your Jesus,
who satisfies us with
living water.
THE SECOND READING
Galatians 3:26-29
For all of you who were baptized into Christ
have clothed yourselves with Christ. |
Baptized,
we put on Christ.
We are clothed in him.
We come to life in his brilliance,
belonging to him, descended from him,
fulfilled again in the promise God has made.
Male and female, brown and white
Jew or Greek, slave or free,
make us one in you,
Jesus
the
Christ.
