A Poem to Sit With

J. Janda

Heaven and earth will pass away,
but my words will not pass away. (Gospel)

The Cradle of Grecio

We live in God
as in a house

with a roof of stars
and a bed of grass

and we—every
thing
are his dreams

but for our lust to
conjure horror—

though who has looked
upon helplessness

has looked upon God
imagined best in a baby
