(Introductory Prayers)

THE GOSPEL
Mark, Chapter 1, Verses 21-28

The people were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes..

Amaze us,
Lord of the Universe.

Spellbind us
with your words.

Charge us
with your Word.

Leaven our lives with the
life of your love.

And
please,
let us take you
out to the whole world.

THE FIRST READING
Deuteronomy, Chapter 18, Verses 15-20

I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their kin

God,
you raise up prophets
as in the time
of Moses.

All around us we could hear them,
as you put your words
into their mouths.

Help us listen.
Let us
hear.

THE SECOND READING
1 Corinthians, Chapter 7, Verses 32-35

Brothers and sisters: I should like you to be free of anxieties.

God of Peace,

We would love to love you without unrest in us.
Whatever our state of life, or mind,
freed from anxieties.

Lord.
give us this day and every day
peaceful hearts.
