(Introductory Prayers)

THE GOSPEL
According to Luke, Chapter 2, Verses 1-12

Then they opened their treasures and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

O
Christ,

Here comes the world,
drinking your light and basking in your brightness;
the wise and ignorant, kings and beggars, CEO’s and cowboys,
from Great Britain, India and Bolivia,
from everywhere.

Shine
your soft light
on the darkness inside us.
Incense our minds and hearts with your grace.

Be the treasure in our hearts.
Be the gift that we
give.

Amen.

THE FIRST READING
Book of the prophet Isaiah, Chapter 60, verses 1-6

Rise up in splendor, Jerusalem! Your light has come, the glory of the lord shines upon you.

Caravans come.
Nations walk in your light.
Our own hearts throb because we see.

You have lighted
the world
for all.

Thank you

THE SECOND READING
Letter of St. Paul to the Ephesians, Chapter 3, Verses 2-3, 5-6

The Gentiles are coheirs, members of the same body, and copartners in the promise in Christ Jesus.

Ancient promises
made good
In the

newborn
babe.

All are welcome
to Christ’s Kingdom now.

God,
you have touched us,
changed us
forever.

Let us shine
like stars.
