Bulletin insert #1:
Have you ever thought about your role in celebrating Mass? Whether you are an ordained or lay person, whether you have a scheduled ministry or are a person in the pew, all of us together are called to full, active, and conscious participation in Mass. Along with praying, singing, and other actions, we can participate with our hearts and minds. A good place to start is with the scripture readings. By reading and reflecting on the readings before Mass, you can gain a better understanding of their meaning and application.
You can do this preparation in many ways, perhaps including a very useful website: liturgy.slu.edu. On this free site, you can read Sunday's scriptures, pray with them, and learn something about their meaning and spirituality. You will find material on many levels of understanding - from basic overviews to detailed analysis. You might spend two minutes or two hours, alone or with others. It can also be a great resource for discussion with family or friends.
Our parish wants all of our parishioners to enter more deeply into the Word and the Eucharist. So we ask you to visit the Preparing for Sunday Web Site from the Center for Liturgy at Saint Louis University. You will be enriched! Please try it for a few weeks and see if it enhances your contact with Our Lord at Mass. liturgy.slu.eduor
Bulletin insert #2:
Announcing an innovative web site designed to prepare for Sunday Mass. The site, liturgy.slu.edu, is for all Catholics, including the people in the pews, and comes from Saint Louis University’s Center for Liturgy. It gives you easy access to the readings for Sunday, and then lets you enter into them in a way that fits you.
This website provides: 1. Links to Sunday's readings. 2. Prayers based on each reading for private prayer. 3. Spiritual reflections and insights from the readings; 4. Information and interpretation of the readings. 5. Listings of Sunday's music from selected parishes around the country.
Our parish wants to make such preparation a regular part of our parish life. Please tune into the Sunday Web Site for a few weeks and see if it becomes a regular part of your spiritual life. You might use the site by yourself or for discussion with friends or family. This website might invigorate your personal prayer and our public prayer as well.
