For the Church: that we may continually be a pilgrim people striving on toward the reign of God and witnessing to God’s action and presence in our lives
For the grace to embrace the cross: that we may accept the sufferings of body, mind and spirit that will transform us progressively into new creations in Christ
For a recognition and affirmation of gifts: that the Spirit will show us the gifts that are present in one another and give us wisdom to most effectively call these forth into the service of God’s reign
For wisdom: that we may recognize the personal, communal, and social “wolves” that distract us from following Christ and be open to God’s grace to strengthen and inspire us
For the courage: that we may never be entrapped by our possessions but always free to use them in our service of God and neighbor
For missionaries and relief workers: that God will renew their spirits, give them courage, and help them to effectively give witness to God’s great love for all
For all who are called to lay ministry: that they may hear God’s invitation, share their talents with the church, and find support and encouragement in the community of faith
For those called to priestly or religious vocations: that they will recognize God’s call, open their hearts to all that God can do through them, and be filled with courage and love
For all who are called to hand on the faith, for parents, teachers, and preachers: that God will inspire them to effectively and dynamically share the Good News with all whom they care for and lead
For lay leaders who have assumed leadership of the church’s ministries in education, healthcare or social service: that the spirit will guide them in continuing the work of Jesus in making known the reign of God
For each of us: that we may hear God’s call and share in the mission of the church by bringing hope, relief of burdens, and compassionate understanding to all who touch our lives
For the leaders of nations: that they may listen to one another and act with integrity to bring forth justice and sound economic plans throughout the world
For all who have been impacted by wildfires: that God will send cooler weather, protect people from harm and give strength to those battling the fires.
For those suffering from drought: that God will send rain to nourish crops and refill reservoirs for urban needs
For all cities burdened by violence and destruction: that God’s compassionate care will inspire people to work for the restoration of neighborhoods and communities, and restore hope to all who are struggling against crime and poverty
For all who long for freedom, for the addicted, for those who are forced into prostitution, and for those entrapped by poverty or illiteracy: that God will open a new path for them and enable them to live in the freedom of the children of God
For those grieving the death of a loved one: that God’s compassionate care may ease their pain and that their hearts may be filled with peace
For a resolution to armed conflicts: that God will touch hearts and bring an end to violence and suffering particularly in Syria and Iraq
