Ideas for General Intercessions

These ideas are designed to be starting points for the prayers of a particular community of faith.

Joe Milner

For the Church: that we may share the Bread of Life with all who hunger for meaning and purpose in life

For grace to trust: that we may recognize that nothing can separate us from the Love of God and rely upon God in all the challenges of life

For a spirit of awe and wonder: that we may recognize the generosity of God who abundantly fulfills all our needs

For truly generous hearts: that we may appreciate the blessings that we have received and generously share our gifts with all who are in need

For Pope Francis: that God will strengthen him and inspire him as he leads the church to greater faith and deeper love

For all Catechumens and Candidates: that they will take God’s Word to heart and grow in knowledge and intimacy with God

For all who are hungry, facing famine, are undernourished or struggling with failed crops: that God will ease their sufferings and touch the hearts of many to respond generously to their need

For all who work in or support food pantries: that their efforts may show the love and compassion of God to hungry children and families

For those who visit and bring nourishment to the sick and homebound: that they may see Christ in all whom they serve and bring God’s love to those whom they visit

For all who are currently facing trial and distress, particularly the Christians of Iraq: that God’s love and compassion will strengthen and sustain them to faithfully bear witness to the Gospel

For all who work in the fields or bring food to our tables: that God will bless, renew, and protect them

For all who are recovering from storm or wildfires: that God will comfort them, give them strength, and guide them in rebuilding their lives

For all the children who have come to the US border: that they may be protected from harm and that their physical and emotional needs may be met

For Peace: that God will transform hearts so that violence may end in the Holy Land and that people may live in safety and peace
