For the grace of conversion: that we may lay aside our old ways and be freed of the habits and attitudes that rob us of life
For an openness to the gifts of God: that we can open our minds and hearts to the surprising gifts of God that are not easy to recognize
For a deepening of trust in God’s providence: that we may live in the present and be freed from the compulsions to hoard or stockpile
For the grace to be satisfied: that we may appreciate all the blessings and opportunities which God has given us and give thanks for our blessings rather than grumble about that which we don’t possess
For all who are experiencing emptiness and confusion: that they may encounter Christ who offers meaning and nourishment for life
For the people and situations that move us to grumble and complain: that we may be transformed by Christ and come to new understanding and approaches to these situations
For a gift of awareness: that we may discover each day our need for God and experience God’s help in each of life’s challenges
For business and government leaders who have responsibility for food: that they will strive with new effort to alleviate the hunger and needs of the poor, of refugees, and of the victims of war
For all who are experiencing the wilderness in their life’s journey: that we may encourage and support them during this difficult time
For all who struggle with mental or emotional illness: that God will be their light and strength
For all who are grieving: that Christ will be their companion and consolation
For the gift of peace: that God will lead us to a new time of peace between nations, amongst religious groups, in neighborhoods and within families
For relief from drought and for end to flooding rains: that God will send seasonable weather and relief for all who are suffering from the power of nature
For all who must work in dangerous areas, for members of the military, for humanitarian aid workers, for missionaries, and for public safety workers: that God will protect them from harm and sustain them in their service |
