THE GOSPEL John 6:24-35
When the crowd saw that neither Jesus nor
his disciples were there, they themselves
got into boats and came to Capernaum looking
for Jesus.

Lord,
We look for you too, seeking
because we too
are empty.
We want what lasts.
Give
us this day
the bread that is you,
and we will never hunger.
Give us the cup of your blood
and we will never
thirst.
THE FIRST
READING
Exodus 16:2-4, 12-15
On seeing it, the Israelites asked one
another, “What is this?” for they
did not know what it was. But Moses told them,
“This is the bread that the LORD
has given you to eat.”
|
Their hunger in the desert was huge.
They grumbled and cried for
the fleshpots of
Egypt.
But you called them.
You call us too.
Out of our cozy comfort.
We grumble and dig in our heels.
We will not go where you lead because
we’ve never been there before.
Yet, in your Holy Eucharist, even we
fill up with your very own life
and gladly become
your journey.
THE SECOND
READING Ephesians 4:17, 20-24
Put on the new self, created in God’s
way in righteousness and holiness of
truth.
|
We,
Heavenly Father,
knowing Jesus’ death and resurrection,
wash our selves away in the waters of baptism.
Give us your new way of thinking.
Let us please put on the
“mind of Christ.”
