THE
GOSPEL
Luke 12:13-21
“Thus will it be for all who store up treasure for themselves but are not rich in what matters to God.”
|
If we own every shirt in the mall
but we don’t clothe
the naked…
If we
have the best wines
but don’t give up a cup of cold water…
If we take time to rake in money
but do not spread
love…
then how rich are we?
Christ,
Please give us wealth
in what matters
to you.
THE
FIRST
READING
Ecclesiastes 1:2; 2:21-23
For what profit comes to man from all the toil and anxiety of heart with which he has labored under the sun?
|
Lord,
in between our first breath and our last,
before you call us home,
you give us
time.
Time to work hard, time to pray well,
time to give, and time to play,
time to be with friends,
time to love
and be
loved
When our hours are spent,
please let us
hear you
say,
“I was here with you through it all.
I gave you precious time.
You have used it
well.”
Christ,
you are the life.
Our life is hidden within your life
in God.
Where
else could we
ever desire to be?
