A Poem to Sit With
Second Sunday of Advent A
December 8, 2019
J. Janda

A voice of one crying out in the desert,
Prepare the way of the Lord,
make straight his paths.

(Gospel)

Iñigo de Loyola

The Spirit

leading
him first

to the sick
prostitutes
children

those in whom
the
newborn Child
is
most found

dumb, helpless

doomed to die
without holy

love which
only
absorbs fire
and
ice

to answer

as earth in
April
with flowers

and later
to all who

seek in suffering

the Father
in the Spirit
with Christ—
he began the
Compañia de Jesús

knowing wood
when
cut will grow

green again and
sprout

wood hath hope
