Lord, help us rejoice in your mercy and love.

Jesus,
Son of David,
have pity on us,
as you did on Bartimaeus.
Everyone knew him; the son of Timaeus.
We are beggars too, and blind.
We can’t stop crying out
for the eyes of
faith.
Help us throw off
our cloaks of
distrust.
Wrap us in
faith.
We want
to follow you,
as did Bartimaeus.
Jesus,
you proceed,
quietly, through the gates
of the promised land,
with all of us
in tow.
Your way is smooth.
You pour light on our darkened path.
You lead us to the glorious
cool streams of your
living water.
We shout for joy!
THE
SECOND
READING
Hebrews 5:1-6
He is able to deal patiently with the ignorant and erring,
for he himself is beset by weakness.
|
Jesus,
you know we are weak and cannot turn
to a distant God who does not
know our suffering
in person.
But you pitched your tent among ours.
You suffered the weakness
that besets us
here.
You wear it
as if
it were
your very
inmost being.
And it is.
