Responsorial Psalm: 19:8, 9, 10, 11
Reading II: 1 Corinthians 1:22-25
Gospel: John 2:13-25

I ask the grace to “help us
love you and our neighbor”

(Introductory Prayers)

THE GOSPEL
John, Chapter 2, Verses 13-25

“Take these out of here, and stop making my Father’s house a marketplace.”

Christ,
help us turn away
from raucous marketplaces

and come to your Father’s house.

Let us drink your
quiet.

Give us courage like yours,
and hands clutching
nothing but
love.

THE FIRST READING
Exodus, Chapter 20, Verses 1-17

In those days, God delivered these commandments.

Carve it here,
God,

on our stony hearts

a rule
to guide us
every day, every way
in all we do and in everything we say.

Help us
love you and our neighbor.
with
hearts of flesh.

THE SECOND READING
1 Corinthians, Chapter 1, Verses 22-25

For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.

Only
one sign:
Christ crucified

Of the world’s wisdom, we say,
O Christ, give us your
foolishness.

Of the delusions of the world’s might,
We pray, make us weak.
Give us the power
only of your
cross.
