Ideas for General Intercessions

These ideas are designed to be starting points for the prayers of a particular community of faith.

Joe Milner

The Second Scrutiny - March 18, 2012

For the Church: that we may share the light of the Gospel with all who are struggling to recognize good from evil, truth from lies, and selfless love from self-serving activity

For a growth of faith in our hearts: that God will give us greater insight into God’s relationship with us and deeper trust in God’s care for us through the challenges that we face each day

For all who face social, cultural, political or family opposition to embracing the Gospel: that God will strengthen their hearts and help them with loving and supporting communities

For all who are bound by the blindness of prejudice: that God will open their eyes to the value and dignity of each human person

For all the Elect: that God will help them recognize the blindness that clouds their vision and give them new awareness of God’s presence in their lives

For reconciliation amongst communities of faith: that we may each repent of past wrongs and work together to confront evil and violence in the world

For elected and appointed officials: that God will anoint their minds and hearts so that they may promote the well-being of all whom they serve, particularly the voiceless and powerless of society

For all who have suffered abuse by religious leaders: that God will heal their minds and hearts and help them to be open to God’s love and friendship

For all who have no sight or who losing their sight: that God’s love may abide with them and give them insight and courage to share their gifts

For all who have inadequate healthcare: that God will open new opportunities for their treatment and guide government leaders to new ways to assist them

For insight and openness to caring for our environment: that God will help us to recognize the damages that have been done to our air, water, and land; and that God will guide us to beneficial ways to protect the environment from further harm

For all whose lives are darkened by alcohol, drugs, or pornography: that the light of the Gospel may open a new path before them

For all who are suffering from violence, warfare, or natural disasters: that God will protect them from further harm and help them find the assistance which they need.

For an end to violence and terrorism: that God will free hearts from violence and protect all innocent people
