THE GOSPEL
John 14:1-12If you know me, then you will also know my Father.
Jesus,
why did you
forego your life for us?
So that we may be where you are?
Wherever you abide: that is the place
we always want to be––circling
in eternal, self-giving love,
with you, the Father,
and Holy Spirit.
You are
our way there,
our truth, and our life.
THE FIRST READING
Acts 6:1-7
Brothers, select from among you seven reputable men, filled with the Spirit and wisdom.
Lord,
choose us as
those who will serve,
who will give calm to the poor,
and will wash their feet as you did,
who will go out to spread your holy Word.
Fill us, please, with wisdom and the Holy Spirit.
THE SECOND READING
1 Peter 2:4-9Let yourselves be built into a spiritual house
Christ, please
call us to be a chosen race,
a royal priesthood,
a holy nation,
a people
of your
own.
We
want to
be with you
in the middle of all
human beings, calling
all of them out of all darkness
