Lord, be our light
.

(Introductory Prayers)

THE GOSPEL
John 14:1-12

If you know me, then you will also know my Father.

Why did you spend your life on us?
To fuse us all as one in you,
 as we seek the
Father?

O Christ,
show us the way:
your truth and your life!
With joy, we ask you, wrap us up
within yourself! Transport us to the Father.

Wherever you abide, that is the place
we always want to be—circling
in eternal self-giving love,

always
with you, with
our and your Father

and your kind gift, the Holy Spirit.

THE FIRST READING
Acts 6:1-7

Brothers, select from among you seven reputable men, filled with the Spirit and wisdom.

 Lord,
choose us as
those who will serve,

who will give care to the poor,
and will wash their feet as you did,
who will go out to spread the word of God.
Fill us, please, with wisdom and the Holy Spirit.

THE SECOND READING
1 Peter 2:4-9

Let yourselves be built into a spiritual house.

Christ, call us to be a chosen race,
a royal priesthood,
a holy nation,
a people
 of your
own.

We want
to be with you
in the midst of all of humankind
calling all people out of darkness into light.
