Good Shepherd is a suburban parish of 1,800 families in the Kansas City, Kansas area. Music is coordinated by a full-time music director for a 30 member SATB choir, a contemporary youth ensemble, a Spanish ensemble and two additional music groups covering four English and one Spanish Mass each weekend. Our parish serves as a Hispanic Ministry Center for the region. Bilingual liturgies are celebrated together on special occasions. These groups consist of volunteers. The cantors are accompanied on the piano, guitar, bass and keyboard with occasional woodwinds, brass and strings. A variety of music styles are used within each liturgy by using the Gather 3rd Edition, Spirit & Song I & II and Flor y Canto hymnals with an occasional psalm from the Spirit & Psalm hymnal.
