THE GOSPEL

Mark 1:21-28

He approached her, grasped her hand, and helped her up.

Lord,

whole towns thronged to you—
with demons and sickness
 needing to be healed.

In
 our day
 we, as well,
flock to find you.

Please, Lord, heal us too.
Take our hands.
 Help us
 up.

Let us take
 your good news
 to the broken of heart,
to the imprisoned and the weak.

THE FIRST READING

Job 7:1-4, 6-7

My days are swifter than a weaver’s shuttle.

 Months of misery,
 endless nights.
 Swift days,
restless
  hearts.

Oh yes,
 us and Job.
Our world suffers.

Jesus, Jesus, we welcome you.

THE SECOND READING

1 Corinthians 9:16-19, 22-23

I have become all things to all, to save at least some.

Make us weak
to speak to the weak.
To slaves, show us chains.
Pour your grace freely through us,

into others.
