THE GOSPEL
John 14:15-21And whoever loves me will be loved by my Father,
and I will love him and reveal myself to him.
Whoever loves me will be loved
by my Father,
and I will love him and
reveal myself
to him.
Jesus,
when
we hope
to understand
your divine secrets,
please speak your words.
to us.
We want to love you, Lord.
That is everything.
Show us
how.
THE FIRST READING
Acts 8:5-8, 14-17
With one accord, the crowds paid attention to what was said by Philip when they heard it and saw the signs he was doing.
Philip healed the crippled and lame
and unclean spirits
came out of
many.
Samaria
gave
its heed
at last to Christ,
through Philip’s ministry.
Great joy came to
all the land.
Lord,
enter us too.
Forge signs of yourself
within our lives
this very
day.
THE SECOND READING
1 Peter 3:15-18For Christ also suffered for sins once,
the righteous for the sake of the unrighteous.
How hard it is to
suffer.
But you,
Christ,
did it for us.
Help us swing wide the door
and admit suffering
whenever it
knocks.
Let this unholy guest beguile us
to know you better,
love you
more,
