For the Church: that we may seek the reign of God whole-heartedly and be open to all the gifts and opportunities that God provides for us
For all Christians: that we may be good stewards of the Gospel message and bring the light of Christ to all who are caught in darkness
For the grace to trust: that we may rely upon God as we encounter life’s challenges and draw strength from Word and Sacrament as we hold fast to faith
For the members of Congress: that the Spirit will guide them as they face budgetary and program decisions
For the grace to be single-hearted: that we may faithfully follow Christ and not be seduced by possessions, fame or success
For the grace to rest in God: that we may surrender our burdens and anxieties to Christ and find refreshment of mind, body and spirit in God’s providence
For all leaders of Christian communities: that they may serve Christ in their ministry and be good stewards of the Gospel message
For all who feel abandoned that they may experience God with them and be strengthened through the love and care of the Christian community
For all who feel trapped by financial obligations and expectations: that they may recognize that God is with them and will never abandon them
For all who are anxious about health, marriage, careers or personal fulfillment: that they may find in Christ the fulfillment of all their longings and hope for the future
For all who are anxious about civil and international conflicts: that they may find in Christ, the Lord of all nations, their hope and source of peace
For freedom from judgments: that we may surrender all situations to God’s judgments and use our energy in serving and encouraging others along the path of life
For all who are working for peace, particularly those in the Asia, Africa, and the Middle East: that God will guide their efforts and bring forth new structures and policies through their efforts to end violence
For nations burdened by debt: that the international community will seek new ways to relive them from debt and promote the development that is needed
For all who are preparing for sacraments in the coming months: that God will deepen their faith, their oneness with the community, and their call to mission
