Lord, help us rejoice in your mercy and love.

THE
GOSPEL
Matthew 5:1-12a
He began to teach them, saying: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.”
|
The world says,
“blessed are the mighty
for they will inherit the earth.”
Jesus, you say it is the poor
who will inherit the earth.
Let us be with
your poor.
Let us inherit the earth:
transform it with
meekness,
mercy,
clean heart,
peace-making,
hunger for justice,
in grace and
faith in
you.
THE FIRST READING
Apocalipsis 7:2-4, 9-14
Do not damage the land or the sea or the trees until we put the seal on the forehead of the servants of our God.
|
Dorothy
Day,
Óscar
Romero,
Alphonsus Rodriguez
washed their robes
in the blood of the Lamb.
O God, please,
cleanse us like your saints.
And put your mark on our foreheads.
Let us lay down our lives
for our neighbor,
out of love
for you.
THE
SECOND
READING
1 John 3:1-3
Beloved, we are God’s children now; what we shall be has not yet been revealed.
|
Right now
we are
God’s
children.
God does not begin
to be our father
tomorrow
or next
week.
God is Father
already,
today,
this
minute.
Dear Lord,
your warm love
answers every prayer.
Thank you.
