A Poem to Sit With
Solemnity of the Assumption
of the Blessed Virgin Mary
August 15, 2021
J. Janda

A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, ... She was with child and wailed aloud in pain
as she labored to give birth.

Medjugorje

A mother’s forgiveness
will save the planet

and all of her
children upon it

and all of the damage
done—for compassion is

the structure of
motherhood

and every prayer
whispered

is an angel
touching the heart

of the one to whom
it is sent
