Ideas for General Intercessions

These ideas are designed to be starting points for the prayers of a particular community of faith.

Joe Milner

For the Church: that through our sharing in the Eucharist, we may be transformed more and more into the Body of Christ

For deeper communion with Christ: that as we receive the Body and Blood of Christ, we may take on the mind and heart of Christ and continue the mission of Jesus

For Christian unity: that Christ’s Body and Blood given for us may heal all the divisions within the Christian community and bind us together into one body in love and service

For all who cannot receive the Eucharist, particularly those in isolation, in refugee centers, or imprisoned for their faith: that God will strengthen them and make God’s presence known to them through others

For this Christian Community, many members but one body: that we may be a people of deep gratitude and allow God to continue to build us into a community of faith and love

For all in Holy Orders: that their lives will manifest God's love to all and that their service will help people experience communion with God and others

For all who are suffering from famine or drought: that God will nurture them, sustain them on their journey, and supply the assistance they need

For all who hunger spiritually: that, through the manna of God's Word, they may be nourished and find the way to live in peace and wholeness of life

For all Eucharistic ministers, particularly those who minister to the sick and homebound: that they may grow in faith through their service and be signs of God's love, healing, and presence to others

For a new awareness of the power of the Eucharist: that Jesus will help us recognize his presence and love in the Eucharist and deepen our commitment to participating fully in the liturgy

For all who have experienced violence: that God will protect them from further harm, right the injustices that have occurred, and give them hope

For local and national governmental leaders: that God will give them wisdom in addressing gun violence, insight into righting injustices, and actions that will heal and unite society

For all who are ill and those who care for them: that God will send healing to the sick, strength and wisdom to those who care for them, and inspiration to those researching treatments and vaccines

For safety: that God will watch over all children, help them to grow and develop new skills over the summer, and lead them to a deeper appreciation of all their blessings

For all who are struggling with addictions: that God will help them to recognize their need for assistance, guide them to reliable resources, and help them to find a supportive community
