A Poem to Sit With
Solemnity of the
Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ A
June 14, 2020
J. Janda

Jesus said to the Jewish crowds:

"I am the living bread that came down from heaven.
(Jn 6:51)

Eating bread
drinking wine

cannot be with

weapons
in hand

nor during
the dance
can weapons
be wielded

that—

only is
perversion

yet even
then

such
will be
lost
in the
Source

as the
stream running
its course

is purified
is freed
to dance

as the sea
is
now—the sea

yes—
is dancing

nourished
and being
nourished

the Sioux say
there is a piece
of God in every
thing
