A Poem to Sit With
Solemnity of Our Lord
Jesus Christ, The King
of the Universe, A
November 22, 2020J. Janda

“Amen, I say to you, whatever you did
for one of the least brothers of mine, you did for me.”
(Gospel)

The Anointed Ones

Called to disgust

their honors are
accolades of abuse
and ridicule

their acknowledgment
a dime or quarter

their burden
to live Truth
in passing

Truth—hidden and dumb
speechless as marrow

at Baptism
branded by
the Trinity

before they were
born—Yhwh pro-
nounced their name
