A Poem to Sit With
Our Lord Jesus Christ,
King of the Universe C
November 20, 2022
J. Janda

Above him there was an inscription that read,
“This is the King of the Jews.”

(Gospel)

Sitio

That terrible
thirst
of the Crucified

whose posture
imputed
blame to none

but only
love
longing unto
the
spilling of
blood

so precious
are
we to him
his only crown
treasure
all—he gives

his selfbread
to
become us

and begs only
belief
that forgiveness

is his hunger
us
to hallow
