Let your star chase away our dark.

(Introductory Prayers)

THE GOSPEL

Matthew 2:1-12

He inquired of them where the Christ was to be born. … ‘Go and search diligently for the child.’

Look!
Look up!
O Jerusalem.

Watch the world
running to walk in your light.

But where is Christ to be born now?
In our hearts?

Then, let us search diligently for him.

We are the sparkling and the dim,
the kings and the beggars,
the border agents and
the “undocumented.”

Shine
your light on us.
 Let your star chase away
our dark.

Glow and grow
within
us.

THE FIRST READING
Isaiah 60:1-6

Rise up in splendor, Jerusalem! Your light has come, the glory of the lord shines upon you

Morning has opened, spilling out its gentle light.
Caravans gather, nations stretch to see.
Hearts will open sleepy eyes
to the radiance that you
have poured
out on
us.

Let us simply stand
in awe.

THE SECOND READING
Ephesians 3:2-3a, 5-6

The Gentiles are coheirs, members of the same body, and copartners in the promise in Christ Jesus.

Old
  promises,
 answered now,
in the newborn babe.

The Christ is within us,
our lives forever
changed.

You
make us
shining stars
to lead all people

to you
