So
wide,
the scope
of your love.
So
high
the price
you pay on it.
His
birth would
have been gift enough.
But in oneness with our sad world
you gave more.
The death of your
Son.
We
stand before
his glorious cross
and praise you for the
deep love
you pour out
so fully
upon
us.
THE
FIRST
READING
Numbers 21:4b-9
Moses accordingly made a bronze serpent and mounted it on a pole, and whenever anyone who had been bitten by a serpent
looked at the bronze serpent,
he lived.
|
Moses
made a snake and put it on a pole for all to see.
The people gazed at it and were healed.
God so loved the world
he put Christ on a
cross.
O cross,
please heal us.
Let not one of us
ever take our eyes off of you.
THE
SECOND
READING
Philippians 2:6-11
Rather, he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave.
|
Jesus,
not thinking his likeness to God
something to be grasped,
emptied himself,
taking the form of a slave
(every knee shall
bend),
obedient unto death
upon the cross
(every tongue
confess
Jesus
is Lord!)
