Lord, be our light
.

(Introductory Prayers)

THE GOSPEL
John 2:13-22

He spilled the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables.

Jesus,
a Wal-Mart Blue-light Special
greeted you when he came to the temple
to pray.

The costly costs,
the regular robbery of the poor,
the temple animals, and money-changing tables.

You
made a whip.
You shocked us with it.
Help us to understand your anger.
Let us see with your eyes:

grace,

pouring from the temple of God,
making all things fruitful,
healing what is
broken.

Your
zeal.
O Christ,
unleash your zeal
upon us.

Let the concerns of God be first for us.
Let us pray and care for your poor.
And give us courage to act
as you did
when
lust
rules.

THE FIRST READING
Ezekiel 47:1-2, 8-9, 12

For wherever this water comes, the sea shall be made fresh.

Grace
is like water.

It flows out the
doors and windows of
your holy
temple.

It courses North, South, East. West,
into the rivers and seas,
making the salt sea
fresh.

Lord,
Plunge us into your river of grace
Let us slake until we are
full.

Make our salt water
fresh.

THE SECOND READING
1 Corinthians 3:9c-11, 16-17

Do you not know that you are the temple of God,
and the Spirit of God dwells in you?

Is there is a Global Positioning Satellite for us?

When we are lost and alone in the world?
Someone who will show us the way
and take us by the
hand?

God,is it your
Spirit?

We know that
you dwell deep within.
Be our constant companion,
and make us
holy.

Direct our actions.
Carry them on with by loving help.
Grant us the nerve to trust
in you always.
