A Poem To Sit With
Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion B
April 1, 2012

The Procession with Palms:
Mark 11:1-10 or John 12:12-16
Reading I: Isaiah 50:4-7
Responsorial Psalm: 22:7-8, 16-17a, 18-19, 22-23ab
Reading II: Philippians 2:6-11
Gospel: Mark 14:1-15:47 (long form); 15:1-39 (short form)

They clothed him in purple and,
weaving a crown of thorns, placed it on him.
They began to salute him with, All Hail, King of the Jews!"
and kept striking his head with a reed and spitting upon him.
(Passion according to Mark)

Blessings

blessed be the shy
blessed be the gentle
blessed be the meek
blessed be the mild
blessed be the courteous
blessed be the reverent
blessed be the humble

for theirs is the
kingdom of heaven

blessed be the scorned
blessed be the rejected
blessed be the outcast
blessed be the mocked

for all illusions
as nightmares
must pass

but what shall remain
is each soul’s light

flashing forth from
the Father of Light
ringed in constellations
of light now and forever

amen
