He said in reply, “I tell you,
if they keep silent,
the stones will cry out!”
(Gospel)

Pater Noster

1

A passion
to
set teeth
on
edge that

hunger
to
embrace

caused
what stands
create

2

his bloody
death
a reminder

a voice
without words
the proof

and changes
of

season
to
underline
what is easier
denied
than endured

3

he has muted
his
heartbeat

dispersed it
in
bird and wood

marrow of stone

the sun’s secret

colors
reflected in rainbows
and
all that it warms
