Ideas for General Intercessions

These ideas are designed to be starting points for the prayers of a particular community of faith.

Joe Milner

For the Church: that we may radiate the light and life of Christ each day and confidently live as daughters and sons of God

For all the newly baptized: that they may faithfully follow Jesus and keep the light of Christ burning brightly in their lives

For all children: that they may live and grow in peace, safe from all harm, and celebrating God's love each day of their life

For all believers: that Christ will pour out the Spirit upon us and enable us to continue the mission of bringing hope, meaning and love to all in our society

For all the human family: that Christ’s victory over death may bring hope and healing to all who are burdened by poverty, disease, prejudice and fear

For all who find themselves walking in darkness: that the Risen Lord will bring light and hope to their hearts

For all who are confused or doubting their faith: that they may experience the Risen Lord and discover the truth through God’s love.

For all gathered in prayer this day: that we who have been washed in the waters of life, may continue to grow in God’s life and bring God’s presence to all in our lives

For healing of hearts and relationships: that the Risen Lord will open the path to reconciliation and healing amongst families, communities, and co-workers

For all who are away from home this Easter, particularly members of the military and relief workers: that God will protect and guide them, and bring them home safely

For greater respect and appreciation of human life: that all may recognize God’s gift in each human life and nurture that life each day

For all who have fled homes because of violence, warfare or fear: that God will guide them to safety, give them hope, and touch the hearts of many to welcome and support them

For all who are burdened by sickness, disease or chronic illness: that the healing Spirit of the risen Christ may bring light and wholeness to them

For peace throughout the world: that the Risen Lord will guide the human family away from violence and toward new efforts for peace in all areas of war and violence
