THE GOSPEL (Easter Vigil)
Mark 16:1-7
THE GOSPEL (Easter Sunday)
Luke 24:1-12They both ran, but the other disciple ran faster than Peter
and arrived at the tomb first ...
Angels.
Dazzling light.
Boulders moving.
Burial head cloth rolled up.
Women running to tell disciples.
Disciples running to see for themselves.
The empty tomb proclaimed
the Good News:
He was not
there.
“Where is he,”
she asked the gardener.
“Miriam,”
We hear you call her name and
we too know that the one
who has loved us all
into wholeness
is alive.
and
with us now.
We say with her,
“Rabbouni!”
THE FIRST READING (Easter Sunday)
Acts 10:34, 37-43
“You know what has happened.”
Night surrendered to day, dark to light,
fear to courage—death
to resurrection.
Peter, afraid to admit he knew the Lord,
fearless now, proclaims you boldly
across the barren hills,
each place he goes.
In every action
he does.
Lord,
give us
your Spirit:
give us your life
as you gave it to Peter.
Let us show your story with our lives.
THE SECOND READING (Easter Sunday)
Colossians 3:1-4
Seek what is above.
Lord,
O help us
find what is above:
compassion, gentleness,
kindness, humility and patience.
Let us put on love:
Let us
forgive one another, bear with one another.
Let your peace dwell in our
hearts.
