The beautiful Chapel of Our Lady of Good Counsel was completed in 1926, possessing exquisite acoustics and tile flooring from Germany. The Stations of the Cross once hung in the original Motherhouse in Germany. The chapel seats around 350 and is completely handicap accessible.
The historic Johnson and Son pipe organ was built in 1877 for St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church in Boston, MA. The School Sisters of Notre Dame rescued the organ amid the church being slated for demolition in 1975. It is the largest existing organ ever built by Johnson, containing 45 stops and nearly 3,000 pipes. It was restored and installed by the Dobson Pipe Organ Builders, Lake City, Iowa.
The Sisters are known as a singing community. They celebrate Eucharist every day at 11:00 a.m. , except on Saturdays. There is a choir of 20+ members that lead sung prayer on Sunday morning and feast/holy days. Liturgies are accompanied by organ, piano, guitar, bass, keyboard and various percussion instruments. All are welcome to join them in prayer.
The chapel is host to an array of concerts throughout the year by the Mankato Symphony Orchestra, choral and various professional organists, to name a few.
